Radio Shack

So after listening to Jad Abumrad I really enjoyed what he had to say about the radio. He started to tell a story and focusing on how that even though radio lacks pictures that its strength as well. He said “I just painted you a picture but you were the paint brush.” People do say radio is dead but sometime when im in the car listening i do feel as if they are talking to me. Especially when i am back home in Norfolk when i hear the local radio stations, i can really relate to them.  I feel the radio can connect us as community.

In the 2nd video he discusses how radio is almost ancient storytelling and i can agree with that the radio was invented before the TV and that’s how alot of people got their information besides the newpapers. Jad has a very interesting perspective on the radio.

I personally do not have alot of experience with audio apps. But i did download SoundCloud so that a star. And the other day when i listened to the DS106 Radio i thought that was pretty cool. Hopefully ill have a chang to play with those other apps as well.

Movies and Gifs

Ok Ok Now!! So I figured out how to make a GIF thanks to Jen you rock. So let get this started with La Jette, that movie definitely gave me the creeps a bit. I thought the pictures would start moving and pop out and scare me. But for the time it was made it had some pretty far out concepts about the apocalypse. The whole higher power see into the future thing was pretty crazy. But even with the subtitles it was hard to follow but the pictures were amazing. The film took advantage of using contrast a lot in the pictures for sure.

Now onto The Road, I thought it was a great movie. But it made me sad at times, when the boy wanted to talk about his mom but the dad sadi just forget it. It broke my heart. I almost had a heart attack when they were in that house where the people were chained up to be eaten and the owners came back. I said to myself “if this little boy gets eaten im done forever with this movie” Throughout the movie the father narrates the movie talking about how the boy wants to meet other children and all, but little did they know a super nice family was following them the whole time! Towards the end of the movies the fathers dies, then the little boy is confronted by a man with 2 kids a wife and a dog. So that movie gave me hope that the world will be ok.

Below I attached a gif from my favorite scene! The boy is trying a soda for the first time, and he love its and say wow its so bubbly. Reminded me of me when i was kid drinking soda thinking how great life is.

Week 4 and how I Crawled my way through it

Wow end of week for and it totally kicked my ass, but my favorite part was watching the movies for sure. I am not really into taking pictures and all. BUt i did learn how to make a gif so I guess that is something. So i am pretty happy about that.

So one take away from the Campbell Narrative is that “the event is not what happens. The event is that which can be narrated” It kinda like if a tree falls in the woods, does it make it sound. Alot of pictures and events need to be narrated to get the full effect of it.

The visual assignment werent that bad i hope i did well with them.

I am so glad this week is done and over with and also for the question of the week, absolutely a gif can tell a story, they say a picture is worth a 1000 words so what about a moving one?

5 Frames Then The End

It was a typical winter everything was peaceful , it was the night before christmas and we were all excited for the new year. But on Christmas morning all the snow and ice melted away overnight. The weather man didn’t say this would he said it would be below 30 degrees. But now it feels like the 70’s.

So we took joy in the unseasonably warm weather, we all went swimming at the beach it was great best unexpected Christmas surprise yet. Or so we thought it kept getting hotter and hotter and hotter. Wildfires started out of nowhere we didn’t know what this happened.

The fires kept growing and growing we had to get out of there.

So we hopped in the RV and hit the road for the caverns to escape the rising heat. We didn’t know if we were going to make it intime we just kept driving on the back roads to avoid the madness. And to avoid all the deaths that were happening.

It keeps getting hotter and hotter and i don’t think Ill make it I dont think I can stand this heat any longer or that terrible smell that comes with it. Oh my god that terrible smell is me ouch ouch im getting burned from the air I just want to..

Week 3 update on My Life

Well week 3 has come to a close and I definitely felt a little overwhelmed this week.  Just from all my classes. I have to read this book about Appalachian Folklore. Not saying it isnt interesting just geeezzz it is hard to read in oral text.

I did enjoy the reading for this class though. Pretty cool on the different times everything was published and what they thought would be the end. How they would dramatize certain things and what not.

Also on a random note I am super happy the Eagles won last night, I am not big into the NFL but I love a good underdog story. I mean better become an Eagles fan because after graduation I am going to be moving to Philly, my fiance has a job up there.

I am really going to to try and focus on time management this week. Just in a couple weeks I have my first game of the season FYI if you want to come its at the battleground on Feb. 24th.  This is for softball ofcourse. It is my last year and the pressure is on to lead to team and try and win the CAC championship.

To close I will answer the question of the week, and my answer is i would definitely be a hoarder. You can not trust people and survival is all about number 1, and then your family, strangers can hit the bricks. Well unless they were children I might give them some supplies or shelter.

Well that week 3 with a wrap.
